Job Description:
Abode , one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to
end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Finance Manager,
Billing and Budgeting for our programs in Alameda County. About The
Role : The Finance Manager, Billing and Budgeting will support the
operational finance activities of multiple program areas and
contracts, including the development and review of monthly invoices
submitted to our funders, budgets, forecasts, and analysis, as well
as the implementation of tracking key business reporting areas on a
regular basis. This position will report to the Director or
Associate Director of Billing and Budgeting. The Finance Manager,
Billing and Budgeting will be responsible for the training and
supervision of Associates and Billing & Budgeting Analysts to
ensure administrative functions related to funder contracts and
financial reporting are effectively executed. This position has
great visibility to the Abode Services leadership team and
interacts with a wide array of key stakeholders (Program
Operations, Finance Team, Accounting Team, Senior Management, and

Make an Impact : Ensures the accurate and timely fiscal contract
monitoring of the contracts they supervise, which may include but
are not limited to preparation and review of monthly invoices,
following up on payments, budget modifications and performance
reports. Supervise Associate and Billing & Budgeting Analysts.
Oversee and ensure the on-time delivery of the following 5 reports:
accruals, unbilled administrative costs, accounts receivable,
revenue trends, and unbilled expenses. Frequency and type of
reporting needs may vary based on business need or the direction of
the Director, Associate Director, or CFO. Prepare financial reports
and executive summaries for Senior Management to provide business
justification and explanations for any variance fluctuations.
Implement projection and forecast standards across all grants. Work
with Director and Associate Director to determine the reporting
needs of each grant and which need key performance indicators
(KPI’s) versus full projection models. Oversee projection models
currently implemented to develop best practice models for different
business areas and provide training, as needed. Work
collaboratively with business partners, including the Accounting
Department to code, track and analyze financial activity. Conduct
weekly Staff Meetings with those they supervise. Maintain
appropriate professional boundaries with staff, clients, and
community resources. Assist in the budget process for programs and
agency-wide budgeting. Perform additional duties/projects as
assigned by the Director, Associate Director, or CFO. How You Meet
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and 3-5
years FP&A experience. Requires experience in public and
private funding in a non-profit environment. 2-5 years in a
supervisory role. GAAP understanding or experience. COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of general accounting principles. Ability to deal with
contract accounting representative in resolving collection issues.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality products.
Excellent computer skills including modeling in Excel. Experience
with financial analytical tools and techniques. Ability to perform
under pressure in an environment of competing interests, prioritize
work and maintain open communications with diverse group of
individuals. Experience with non-profit funding administration.
Highly organized and extremely detail oriented. Excellent
analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal
