Technician Job Description This position is an exciting opportunity
to join the Instrumentation and Imaging Group, where you will
support product validation for a range of innovative products,
including legacy vehicles, new vehicles in development, charging
products, energy storage solutions, and an Optimus humanoid robot.
You will be responsible for overseeing and performing
instrumentation and data acquisition for system-level and
sub-system tests conducted in-house and at proving ground sites.
Additionally, you will support vehicle preparation and tear-down
based on testing priorities. Responsibilities Identify, source, and
procure necessary data acquisition and sensors. Maintain a sensor
library, manage sensor repair, and coordinate calibration
activities for all instrumentation. Oversee and perform the
installation of sensors and data acquisition equipment. Install
data acquisition equipment, including sensors such as
accelerometers, gyros, thermocouples, strain gauges, load cells,
pressure transducers, torque sensors, displacement sensors, BUS
monitors, and GPS. Develop daily work plans to meet test plan
objectives on schedule. Design and create custom brackets and
fixtures. Support testing activities and vehicle preparation and
tear-down as required by workflow priority. Select appropriate
sensing devices for use with data collection systems. Provide
onsite support and testing while monitoring and validating data.
Conduct data analysis and correlation. Essential Skills Proficiency
in electronics troubleshooting and use of electrical tools.
Experience in soldering, wire harness fabrication, and automotive
servicing. Experience with data acquisition systems and vehicle
instrumentation using accelerometers, pressure sensors,
thermocouples, and strain gauges. Familiarity with DTS, SOMAT, NI,
and DEWESOFT data acquisition tools is preferred. Formal
electronics training in AC/DC circuits, formulas, and components,
or equivalent work experience. Skill in strain gauge selection,
installation, and wiring for torque, load, and bending
applications. Ability to operate and maintain a variety of hand and
power tools, shop tools, and equipment for automobile servicing.
Competence in using diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and
other test equipment. Proficiency in MS Office tools (Outlook,
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and Adobe products. Capability to
follow oral and written instructions and establish cooperative
working relationships. Ability to manage multiple priorities,
organize workload, and meet deadlines. Experience working in a
team-based environment to achieve common goals. Additional Skills &
Qualifications A minimum of 3 years of experience in
instrumentation and data acquisition or an applicable
degree/certification. Valid driver's license. Flexibility to travel
domestically and internationally, up to 10%. Work Environment This
role is primarily lab-based, with occasional local travel (less
than 25%). The work environment supports a professional appearance
and integrity as a test technician. Job Type & Location This is a
Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA. Pay and
Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
